Reinforcing and Keeping Our Banner Flying High Among Students

Our President/CEO, Dr. Grant, is working on a global “Anti-Bullying Campaign” for students in grades K-5 and ultimately, grades K-12. We cannot stand on the sidelines any longer. Desmond Tutu also said, “If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse, and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.” Thus, we will spread our message across multiple media platforms with the aim to leave a legacy that can create a meaningful influence on present and future generations.

While studying and living with a Mexican Family in Guadalajara, Jalisco (summer program), Dr. Grant was taught some of the most famous Ballet Folklorico Dances of Mexico by world-renowned Ballet Folklorico dance instructors. When Dr. Grant became a teacher in the U.S., he taught his fifth and sixth-grade classes those famous dances. Parents got involved and handmade all of the Ballet Folklorico costumes. The students performed to standing room only audiences that included students (K-6), parents, teachers, as well as the Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent of the school district. In total, there were 41 dancers and 4 students that worked the colorful lights and PA system. The students were from diverse ethnic backgrounds: Blacks, Hispanics, Filipinos, and Asians. The dance troop line-up consisted of Mexican, African, Filipino and Samoan dances. Further, Dr. Grant choreographed karate moves to pop music kung fu fighting (Spanish version) and hip hop dance moves to reenact the heavyweight championship boxing match scene between Rocky Balboa and one of his toughest opponents (Rocky Soundtrack). These students not only toured elementary schools within the school district but also provided a Multicultural Day Event in the park for 5 or more schools (grades K-8) that were bussed into the park located within the school district. Ultimately, the students who performed the dances from Mexico were invited to perform at the World Famous Hollywood Bowl on stage in front of thousands of students (K-8) from all over and around Southern California that following summer.

Introducing Students to Aspects of Creativity and Leadership Challenges

In 2014, our initiative became evident on a global level during a program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where Dr. Grant taught the course “Cradles of Creativity” to students from around the world. They were introduced to distinguished artists, entrepreneurs, innovators, animators, and inventors in this course.
Using their creative imagination, the learners were able to create, design, and/or invent their dream project. This included futuristic electric automobiles, airplanes, fashion/clothing lines, movie/television scripts, songwriting, health apps, arts, and inventions to curb polluted oceans and poor air quality. Additionally, the students also worked in small groups to address another global issue: BULLYING!
